residential roof replacementWhen it comes to residential roof replacement you cannot afford to assume that you don’t need to think about installing a new roof until the old one starts leaking or visually looks like it needs to be replaced. Because by the time you notice the leak, the structural damage will have already occurred. Ryson Roofing believes in identifying your residential roofing issues before they become so obvious and expensive.

Here are some tips to help decide whether the time has come for residential roof replacement:

  • Get a good visual of your roof: Stand outside and look at your roof. Pay close attention to the shingle lines. Are the shingle lines still straight or can you see sags or other irregularities? When shingles sag it means that the sheathing underneath the shingles is rotting and needs to be replaced. Also, the area of your roof where one roof pitch meets another is called a valley. This is the area that carries the water down the roof into your gutters. It’s common to find leaks in this area.
  • Clean Your Gutters: Now this might seem like it has nothing to do with identifying issues on your roof. Besides cleaning your gutters to keep them free from debris and allow the water to properly run off of your roof. Cleaning your gutters can also identify if your shingles are starting to decay. When cleaning your gutters, look for asphalt granules in the gutter. This is a sign the asphalt shingles are breaking down.
  • Inspect the Shingles: When looking at your roof, look closely at the actual shingles. Do they have cracks? Are they curling up on the edges? Do you see missing shingles? This is a sure sign you need residential roof replacement. These signs indicate that your shingles have been compromised and need to be replaced. Call Ryson for a FREE roof inspection.
  • Go Inside: Go into your attic. Take a good flashlight with you. This is especially good after a good rain. Point your flashlight at corners, look for moisture or wet areas. Also check to see if there’s any daylight streaming through the roof boards.
